Why Vegan?

In simplest form, a vegan is someone who lives their life without using animal products.

This means eating a 100% plant-based diet, therefore abstaining from any meats, dairy, eggs and honey. Veganism also means avoiding other animal products, such as
leather, wool and silk. I also believe a vegan doesn't partake in any other form of animal exploitation - such as wearing make-up tested on animals, and various forms of entertainment.

There are many different reasons that people go vegan. I myself became a vegan due to ethics and animal rights, however I am also a vegan for the environment and my health. I like to tell people "I came for the animals - but stayed for the health and environmental benefits". Not to mention it's a lot cheaper and I've been a student for the past three thousand years. I've been a vegan for almost three years now (I was vegetarian for a few years prior to this) and I can honestly say I can't think of a single reason NOT to go vegan!

If you don't quite understand why someone would be vegan or what the point is, I recommend these resources which I found great when I was unsure about veganism:

Earthings
Best Speech Ever
The Secret Reason We Eat Meat

I also recommend Cowspiracy which is on Netflix!

Is this blog just for vegans?!

No! Not at all! This blog is just to provide recipes for wholesome, delicious foods that will make you feel great. Anybody can enjoy them, I promise.

But what about ....... ?!?

Listen, I love food. Every vegan I know loves food. I can promise you each and every one of yoru favourite foods (and yes, that includes bacon) can easily be made vegan. Challenge me - if there's a certain food you love, I'm more than happy to attempt a vegan version!
